Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates are going to start working together on advanced technology research
Minister of Innovation and Technology (Dr.) Bale Mola held a discussion with the leaders of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) of the United Arab Emirates.
The discussion focused on the possibility of working together on joint development of task-oriented integrated technology research, advanced technology transfer and commercialization, and human resource capacity building.
Minister Bele Mola explained the efforts of the ministry and other stakeholders to establish a national research council to support research in Ethiopia and raised the desire of our country to work in coordination with the institution.
The United Arab Emirates Advanced Technology and Research Council is an institution that leads, supports and supports research in artificial intelligence, space and aerospace, smart transportation and similar technologies and creates a strong research ecosystem in the country.
The institute is led by a board chaired by Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and aims to make the UAE a world leader in technology and a knowledge-led economy.
Bale Molla (Dr.), Aisha Muhammad (Engineer) and Ambassador Umar Sulaiman, who participated in the World Summit held in Dubai, were present at the discussion.
The Minister of Irrigation and Lowland Areas, Aisha Mohamed (Engineer), highlighted the efforts and challenges related to research to increase productivity by solving the problems of the lowland areas in Ethiopia with the lack of rain, and said that working with the council will benefit both countries.
The executive of the council pointed out that one of the objectives of his institution is to establish international collaborations and conduct joint research and experience exchanges, and expressed that they are ready to work with Ethiopia on specific issues.
The information we received from the Ministry of Innovation and Technology indicates that a group of senior experts from the two ministries and the council will be formed to sign and implement the joint agreements.
